Why ping your more than one credit report?

I asked awhile back where I should go and apply for a credit card if I have bad credit. A few people said Orchard Bank. I applied with them and even though my credit score is int he 540's they said I could only get a secured credit card.

Later that night I saw that someone else said to try Capitol One cause they were easier.

So, I noticed that they hard hit my Trans Union credit report one day.
