Can I finance a car with bad (but not horrible) credit?

Question by Big D: Can I finance a car with bad (but not horrible) credit?
My credit is about 579, but I don't have any bankruptcies or other major credit events. I have been trying to rebuild it and over the past year or two I don't have late payments or anything like that.

I'd like to get a car around 15k and finance, but I'm not sure if I can with my credit score. This is my first car purchase. :(

P.S - I have a decent job, just got a promotion in fact, and can easily afford
