Would it hurt my credit to maintain a negative credit card balance?

Question by popalock85: Would it hurt my credit to maintain a negative credit card balance?
I recently over paid my credit card by $ 300. I really don't care that I over paid because I don't need the money but I just want to make sure having a negative balance on one of my accounts does not harm my credit in anyway?

I remember talking to my bank about this awhile back and they said that I will have the amount credited back to my checking account if it is still there after a month.
