Does a car have to be registered in the names of the people on the loan?

I need a car but have bad credit so my husband is financing a car through our bank. I will not be on the loan, just him.
However, I want the car registration to have my name on it as well.
I know the bank will own the "title" until we pay it off.

My husband called the dealership and asked if I could be put on the car registration and they said it goes to whose on the loan.
