Best credit card to get for bad credit people to raise credit?

My boyfriend has awful credit and we're working on improving it. He doesn't have any debts. I want to get him a credit card so he can start getting positive marks on his score, but I don't think he will be able to get many credit cards. Does anybody know of a good credit card to use?
