How can you get a checking account when your credit information says checking account abuse?

Question by That Girl: How can you get a checking account when your credit information says checking account abuse?
Okay this wasn't my fault but we had a joint account and we where hurting financially and my husband NOT me wrote some bad checks. We payed off the account and all the fees but now when I tried to open an account in my name only they say that we were reported for checking account abuse and they won't let me open an account. How can I fix this?? I didn't know he was writing bad
